Grandparent vacation...

Each summer growing up my grandparents would take a school age child on a vacation trip, usually a week of hotels, and restaurants, and distant relatives. Since there were just me and my sisters , Dian being so young was not able to go that meant every other year was my turn. We loved our trips with Grandma and Papa. They were always fun and to places we normally hadn't been.

This year the traditions starts with the next generation. On Friday, we are driving to middle of nowhere in TX to rendezvous with my sister Dian. Dian will take Liza back to her place in Arizona and meet up with my parents for a week of tourist type activities. After which my parents will return home and Dian will bring Liza back and stay with us for a week.

The excitement of Grandparent vacations has carried on. Liza with a six days to go has packed for every possible activity, Auntie Di's birthday presents and projects to keep her entertained during her travels. She is so excited, it all she has talked about. It has brought back so many fond memories, hot springs, splinters in my feet from a rotted out hotel deck, distant relatives weddings, hearing stories of my dad's youth, visiting old churches, and lots of one on one time...We will miss her but I know she will have a blast!

Are you passing close to Austin at all on your way to the middle of nowhere Texas? If you are, let me know. Maybe we can meet up if there is time!

Grandma figures Grandma and Papa are just as excited as Liza is. She may be right.

I used to go and stay at each set of my grandparents every summer for a couple of weeks. Nothing exciting. No where to go. But when I look back at the moments and memories created, nothing can compete with family time - especially with beloved grandparents.

Michelle I think we are going north. We are meeting my sister half way between Thatcher AZ and Lawton OK. I wish it were closer to you, we would love to hook up.

Dian, I am sure Liza will keep you entertained and worn out!

Papa and Grandma, she will talk your ear off. She has so much to tell you she says. I hope she doesn't get too homesick- HAHA!!

Krista Family time where you get spoiled is definitely good time! LOL
