Teaching moments...

Liza was asked to sit a neighbours animals while they were away on holidays. She has done an amazing job for a 7yr old. First thing in the morning she reminds us that we must go over there, then we usually go once in the afternoon and then again in the evening to let the dogs out and snuggle the baby bunnies. She never forgets.

Tonight we went for a lap around the neighbourhood and she rode her bike ahead of us to let the dogs out, and check on the bunnies. She accidentally didn't close the cage door properly. The bunnies pushed it open and escaped. I miss understood and thought they had escaped earlier in the day. After a serious lecture and some searching the back 40 Jake and I gave up. I sat her down and asked direct questions of how the door was found and when she last closed the door. I then understood they had only been out a few minutes, they couldn't have gotten far. Immediately we found three bunnies and the mama right near the cage, but were still short one bunny.

I asked Liza what she wanted to do. She decided to pray. We prayed then I sent the boys home ahead of us so we could think and have quiet. We talked about prayer and how Heavenly Father answers our prayers. She walked around a little "acting" on her feelings. The mama bunny was restless inside the cage. I suggested we let her go find the bunny. Liza said she was thinking the same thing. Sure enough mama bunny led us straight to the lost bunny! Liza locked the cage and checked it twice. Then asked if we could thank Heavenly Father quick before going home. On the way home I asked her what she learned. SHE GETS IT! "Pray, listen, act, and thank" was her answer. She is no dumb cookie!

Wow, I am very impressed. What a strong testimony she is developing. Way to go Eliza on praying for help and way to go Chrissy on having the patience for her to pray and wait. :)
