So excited for the change

Thomas S. Monson is the new president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it was announced today at a news conference in the Church Office Building. President Monson, 80, succeeds President Gordon B. Hinckley, who died 27 January 2008.

The new world leader of the Church has called to serve with him in the First Presidency, the top governing body of the 13-million-member faith, President Henry B. Eyring, 74, first counselor, and President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, 67, second counselor.

As sad as it was that Pres Hinckley past, I am so excited to see what these three men will bring to the leadership of the Church. I have met Pres Uchtdorf many times, even been to his house in Germany a few times. He is well known in Germany and is very well respected among the Europeans! Pres Monson was a great source of hope and encouragement to the saints behind the Iron curtain. He is very loved in those countries! This is a great thing for the international relations of the church. I love each of these men and am so grateful they so willingly serve our church.

Side note-All of these men have served in the military. A very unique experience for all three of these members to share in this day and age...
